The Brief
RocketRoute needed a dedicated weather product to sit alongside their existing flight planning software. Pilots planning routes have to account for wind speed, precipitation, turbulence, and pressure changes — and the margin for error is zero. They needed a purpose-built platform: accurate, fast, and usable in the cockpit or on the ground.
What We Built
We delivered a dual-platform weather system — a web application and a mobile app — both drawing live data directly from NOAA, one of the most authoritative sources of aviation-grade meteorological data available. The web platform integrates with RocketRoute's broader flight planning suite, letting pilots layer weather conditions onto their route planning in real time. The mobile app was built for use in the field: lightweight, offline-tolerant where possible, and optimised for quick reads on a phone or tablet mid-flight. Data freshness was non-negotiable, so we built the ingestion pipeline to reflect conditions as close to the minute as the NOAA feed allows.
The Result
Pilots using RocketRoute WX can now access the same quality of meteorological data on their phone at altitude as they can on a desktop during pre-flight planning. The unified data source eliminated the inconsistencies that had undermined trust in the previous setup. RocketRoute gained a weather product that works as a standalone feature and strengthens the overall value of their flight planning platform.
