The Brief
Trackabi's founders needed a time tracking tool that didn't compromise — one that could handle complex project structures, teams across multiple time zones, and the administrative overhead that freelancers and small businesses typically manage across three or four separate tools. Existing solutions were either too simple for serious project management or too rigid for teams that bill clients, track leave, and report on productivity in the same workflow. The brief: build something that could do all of it without feeling bloated.
What We Built
We delivered the full Trackabi platform as a web application with desktop clients for Windows, macOS, and Linux, native mobile apps, and a browser extension. The desktop app includes optional screenshot capture and background activity monitoring — features that required careful handling of OS-level permissions across different operating systems.
Beyond core tracking, Trackabi includes invoicing and payroll modules that pull directly from logged time, leave management, and a configurable gamification layer that converts work activity into experience points and achievements — built to be adjusted by team leads, not fixed by the product.
The Result
Trackabi is now used by many thousands of organisations and freelancers worldwide, with subscription tiers covering individuals and businesses. Its breadth — time tracking, project management, HR, invoicing, and payroll in one product — gave it clear positioning against more narrowly scoped competitors. Desktop app installs proved a strong retention signal: users who installed the Windows or macOS client logged significantly more sessions than web-only users, directly shaping how the team prioritised subsequent development.
